Free PDF Editor

Add text, images, ticks, highlights and white boxes to a PDF and download it. Free, private, nothing is uploaded.

Open a PDF, then add text, images, ticks, crosses, highlights or white boxes and drag them into place. The new content is placed on top of your pages, so the original text is not rewritten. To fix a word, cover it with a white box and type the new one on top.

How to use the PDF Editor

  1. Open your PDF. Choose the file. The pages appear one at a time so you can move between them.
  2. Add and arrange. Add text, images, ticks, crosses, highlights or white boxes and drag each one into place. Tap an item to change its size, colour or text.
  3. Download the edited PDF. Open the result and check every page before you send it.

What is the PDF Editor?

Sometimes you only need to add a line of text, a date, a logo or a highlight to a PDF, or cover a detail and type a correction. This editor does that without installing software or creating an account.

It places new content on top of your pages. It does not rewrite the text that is already inside the PDF, which is how most free browser editors work, and we say so plainly so you know what to expect.

What you can add

  • Text in Helvetica, with size, colour and bold.
  • Images such as logos, stamps and signatures (PNG or JPG).
  • Ticks and crosses for forms and checklists.
  • Highlights in yellow, green, pink or blue.
  • White boxes to cover something, and outline boxes to mark it.

Changing text that is already there

PDF text is stored as separate positioned letters rather than paragraphs, so a PDF cannot be reflowed like a Word document. To correct a word, cover it with a white box and type the new word on top.

The old text is still inside the file under the box. If a detail has to be gone for good, use Redact PDF instead.

Tips for better results

Zoom in to check that text and boxes line up before you download.

Keep the original file, so you can start again if a change was not right.

Use a white box only to hide a detail on screen. The text underneath is still in the file.

Add images as PNG or JPG. A PNG with a transparent background works best for logos and stamps.

Frequently asked questions

Can I edit the existing text in a PDF?

Not directly. You can cover text with a white box and type new text on top, but the original text stays in the file underneath. For permanent removal use the Redact PDF tool.

Does it support Arabic or Chinese text?

Not in text boxes yet. Text boxes write Latin letters only. You can add other alphabets as an image.

Will my PDF lose quality?

No. Your pages are kept as they are and the new content is added on top.

Is my file uploaded?

No. The file stays in your browser.
